Metal Hot Rod Prints

49 Ford Shoebox

Constrained Force

Here are a couple new Hot Rod prints I launched for The Carnivora exhibit. The Hot Rod prints are printed on Aluminum. The art work was originally done in Painter and Photoshop. On the Constrained Force piece I rusted stainless steel on the aluminum then hand etched the outer part of the piece. The artwork is an old sketch I had around. I finally finished the piece for an art show called Carnivora. The art piece is my take on a version of the Batmobile that needed to be chained down to control it. It gave the car more character instead of just being a car. The other Hot Rod print is of a 49 Ford with some customization by me. Then I painted all the aluminum with a a primer lacquer for the mat and three shades of green on the main piece for the image. Then sanded through the greens to give it a worn look. Then the metal is sealed. The image is put on with a UV process that bakes the ink onto the surface and become virtually waterproof. Then I used acrylics to finish it off to give some texture and depth to the final Hot Rod prints. Each print is framed in a custom CNC anodized aluminum frame designed by me. These Hot Rod prints are truly a one of a kind piece and I am only making 15 of each because of the timely process to make them. So each one will be different and have it own unique look. I will even take color request if interested then you can have one of kind piece of artwork. Each piece sells for $800 each plus shipping and handling. I already have a list started for the prints and it is on a first come first serve basis. I can be reached through my email if interested.

Mazda Furai

I know this might be a little old but Mazda Furai is pretty cool.
This Mazda Fuari looks amazing going down the track and I gotta say I would want to watch more racing if all the cars were this cool looking. The Furai sounds amazing too. The word Furai in Japanese means "sound of wind". Furai is able to generate about 80 percent of the downforce of the original race-spec bodywork. Most concept cars don't even run but this one as you can see by the video is running around the track at speed. The Furai has aggressive lines plus elegant styling it will make you look even if you don't like cars. Furai is one of those special cars that really show off what a concept car can represent. Very inspiring and stylish.

Big Buck Bunny from Blender Foundation on Vimeo.

I came across this video today called "Big Buck Bunny" It was all done with a free 3D program called Blender. First of all it is amazing work and second with a free 3D program it is really impressive what they did. It has a great story and the animation is flawless. Just to let you know a little more about Blender , it is a free open source 3D content creation suite, available for all major operating systems under the GNU General Public License. Blender is completely free to download and use. They do have a cool shop that offers training DVD's and other goodies to help support the program. I have downloaded myself but have never dived into it. You can't go wrong when Blender is free and offers some great experience to learn 3D.

"Structura" the art of Sparth

As a professional designer I always use lots of things to help inspire me. I have worked in the design industry for over 13 yrs from graphic design to automotive design. I use lots of cool equipment and have many books in my library, so I decided to open a store and share some of the things I have and tools of the trade with all of you guys. Go to the FutureElements store and check it out. Some of my favorite books are listed. One of my favorite current artists is Sparth. He is an amazing digital artist with some killer techniques. Sparth's art book called "Structura" just came out from Design Studio Press and it features his best work. It includes Sparth's professional work as well as personal artwork. Sparth uses a lot of custom Photoshop brushes with textures and patterns. Which creates stunning pieces of art, it almost becomes a "pick the picture out of the clouds technique" and creates "happy accidents". Sparth's main work now is working in the video game industry doing the concept art for the games from characters to vehicle and environment design. Some of Sparth's newest published work was Assassin's creed. Sparth has worked for game companies such as Capcom, Namco and recently worked with Ubisoft. So "Strucura" is a great addition to any concept artists libabry. Well worth the money and check out the other concept books offered through my store.
